Ortt Gives $50,000 to Lockport City School District for “TechMobile”

lock port – Sen. Rob Ortt (R-I-North Tonawanda) today presented a ceremonial check for $50,000 to the Lockport City School District to fund the purchase of a van to be used as a “Techmobile.” Throughout the summer, the TechMobile will stop in various neighborhoods around the city, giving individuals access to technology, books, arts and crafts, and healthy snacks.

“TechMobile is a unique concept that will appeal to both children and adults of all ages.” Senator Ort said.. “We are thrilled to support this project that brings the community together, gets children outside, interacts with each other and keeps their minds active during the summer holidays.”

Superintendent Michelle T. Bradley said.“The Lockport City School District is extremely grateful for Sen. Ortto’s consideration and generosity in supporting the district’s first TechMobile project. Many of our students are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. provides them with the opportunity to improve their skills and helps level the playing field for them. TechMobile offers every child a clear advantage that prepares them for the future.”

This summer, the district rented a Ridge Road Express bus and used it as a makeshift techmobile to visit two districts a day, four days a week. In partnership with the Lockport Public Library, TechMobile was able to deliver his iPads and books loaded with educational activities, math and ELA apps to over 900 children and adults.

This funding, secured by Sen. Ortt as part of the 2016-17 state budget, will allow the Lockport City School District to purchase its own fleet of vehicles for next summer. The district is currently working on a customized design for TechMobile.
