The Mumbai Police on Friday inducted an emergency response mobile surveillance control and command center vehicle that can remotely transmit live footage via satellite to the police control room during emergencies and disasters.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Datta Padsargikar has launched a mobile command centre.
“If a law and order situation arises or any disaster occurs, the police will dispatch this mobile command center to the scene. A CCTV camera installed on the roof of the vehicle captures live footage from the scene, It will be transmitted through satellite to the command center at the central control room of the Mumbai Police,” said a police officer.
Senior police officers at the police control room will closely monitor the situation and decisions will be taken accordingly. At the same time, it can also give instructions to police officers on the scene.
“This mobile vehicle has been procured by a private company as part of police modernization training. This vehicle will help in maintaining law and order and disaster management,” police DCP spokesperson Ashok Dude told PTI. Told.
The city currently has more than 6,000 surveillance cameras monitoring busy streets and intersections, but officials say a command center will assist in areas where cameras are not installed.
In addition to five roof-mounted cameras, one of which is capable of 360-degree surveillance, the van is also equipped with four cushioned seats and a large LED screen.
