Best cell phone plans of 2024: March picks

This is a little more complicated. Verizon was previously our choice for its Disney Bundle (ad-free Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, ad-supported Hulu) and its Play More plan, which bundles services like Google Play Pass and Apple Arcade into the plan’s list price.

Now, carriers have updated their wireless plans to no longer automatically include benefits like the Disney Bundle, Apple Arcade, and Google Play Pass with their services. Even with the new plan, this is still chosen as the best benefit, but it requires a little more explanation.

Instead of automatically including services, we now offer a variety of benefits for $10 per month each and let users choose what they want. You can also now participate in a low-cost plan known as Unlimited Welcome.

Unlimited Welcome is $65 per month for 1 line or $120 per month for 4 lines. You get unlimited talk, text, and data, but you don’t have access to Verizon’s fastest 5G network (dubbed “5G Ultra Wideband”) or hotspot data. To do that, you’ll need to step up to the more expensive Unlimited Plus plan ($80 for 1 line, $180 for 4 lines).

Both the Welcome and Plus plans include the ability to add benefits for a monthly fee of $10. These include Disney Bundle (typically $15/month), Apple One Individual (typically around $17/month), Apple Music Family (shared by 5 people, typically $17/month), and Walmart Plus (typically $17/month). $13, but also includes Paramount Plus Essential).

Other benefits include an additional 100GB of hotspot data (usually $45 per month), 2TB of Verizon cloud storage (usually $15 per month), and 3 days of international data (what carriers call TravelPass, typically 1 Benefits include $10 per day.

All perks can be turned on or off at will, or even omitted completely. You can also include multiple benefits on a single line if you wish.

To determine whether this makes sense for your situation, you may want to take some time to consider what services work with spreadsheets and how much you are willing to pay for them. If you’re paying directly for some of these services, your savings may be even higher, but they may also be more expensive than your existing plan.

It’s also worth mentioning that Verizon lets you “mix and match” lines, so if not everyone needs a fast 5G connection, you can get Unlimited Welcome, and those who do can get Unlimited Plus. .

AT&T offers a similar service with its unlimited plan, but it doesn’t currently offer streaming benefits. To get T-Mobile benefits, everyone must be on the same plan.

If you want to save even more on one or two services like the Disney Bundle, you can get 4 lines for $120 per month, add Disney benefits for $10, and pay $130 per month for the entire package .

Oh, and you can also save a little more by combining these plans with Verizon’s other discounts for teachers, nurses, military, and first responders.
