New Delhi, March 12 (IANS): The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, formalizing collaboration in the application of geospatial technology and artificial intelligence (AI), marking a major step forward in the technology field. showed that. The MoU is an ambitious initiative aimed at leveraging ground- and space-based geospatial technologies and AI to monitor and manage assets under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The focus is on the project “BhuPRAHARI”.
The project will be executed by HydroSense Lab led by Professor Manabendra Saharia.
“This collaboration is an effort to harness the power of technology to improve rural development processes,” the State Department said in a statement.
The integration of cutting-edge technology is expected to modernize the way rural development projects are planned, monitored and executed, ensuring accountability and optimizing resource allocation, officials said.
Additionally, this MoU marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to explore and apply technological solutions to challenges facing rural areas.
Through this partnership, Delhi Technological University and the Indian Ministry of Defense are setting a precedent for how academic and government institutions can work together to foster innovation and drive socio-economic progress, the statement said.
