Survey shows consumers plan to buy gadgets despite inflation

Research conducted by one of our sister sites, TechRadar, shows that consumers are still concerned about the rising cost of living, but are still willing to buy the gadgets they need. In addition to announcing our findings, TechRadar today also launched a major redesign and rebrand aimed at highlighting our ability to help our readers find the right product at the right price .
The survey surveyed 13,797 UK and US consumers over four periods from May 2022 to March 2023 and included 2,319 respondents who are TechRadar readers. Poll results show that people in both countries plan to change or have already changed their spending habits to save money. Among TechRadar reader respondents, 50% in both countries reported reducing their streaming subscriptions, while 47% and 38% in the UK and US, respectively, said they ate out less frequently.
Despite making other cuts in their lives, only 24 per cent of UK readers and 18 per cent of US readers said they would postpone a planned technology purchase. However, 40% of all respondents and 37% of his TechRadar readers said they would reduce their spending on electronics in the near future. Unsurprisingly, 86% of all respondents and 90% of TechRadar readers agreed that “getting a good deal is more important than ever.”
What types of electronic devices are people buying these days? Latest data from April 2023 (from UK respondents only) shows that consumers will buy a new smartphone in the next 12 months. Most likely to buy, followed by laptops, desktop PCs or components, game consoles, and cameras. .
