2023 was a bumper year for technology releases, with some products being truly groundbreaking and others making changes that finally caught up with the times. In the ever-evolving world of technology gadgets, what did Yahoo Singapore readers search for?

From e-readers to cutting-edge smartphones, dig into the top five tech gadget searches that piqued the interest of Lion City gadget lovers in this year’s review.

5. Kindle

The resurgence of e-book reading has been gaining momentum in Singapore over the past few years, and the Statista report shows a positive trend.

So it’s no surprise that the Kindle is the fifth most popular gadget on the search list. Its portability and ability to store large numbers of books, combined with the impact of Amazon Prime’s arrival in the region, has cemented its place on the technology radar.

Just a few weeks ago, there was a huge price drop for the Kindle Paperwhite, and there was also the fact that Comixology users had to migrate to the Kindle platform due to the merger of the two services.

There were no new Kindles announced in 2023, but the Kindle Scribe, a Kindle with a stylus for note-taking, is receiving rave reviews for its new update.

4.Samsung S23

The Samsung S23 and S23+ attracted attention for their standout camera features, including GIF remastering, Astro Hyperlapse for starry sky time-lapses, a 10x zoom telephoto lens, and a huge 200-megapixel camera in the Ultra version.

Singapore was also one of the lucky countries where users could participate in the One UI 6 beta program. This program is a software upgrade that further improves your phone from all accounts.

Although Samsung wasn’t able to outperform its biggest competitor in terms of search queries in 2023, the S23 made waves and secured the fourth place on the list.

Despite a relatively quiet year for new releases, the Apple iPad holds steady at No. 3 on the list of gadgets searched by Yahoo readers. Compact enough and with a comfortably sized screen, iPad is perfect for studying, working, consuming content, and even playing casual games.

In fact, you’ve likely heard your family refer to another tablet as an “iPad,” even if it’s a different brand.

Apple’s marketing prowess has made the word “iPad” synonymous with tablets in Singapore and has maintained its popularity among technology enthusiasts. New releases have been a little quiet this year, but that could change soon.

2. Nintendo Switch

In second place is the Nintendo Switch, a handheld gaming console that has remained popular for over six years. With multiple game modes and removable Joy-Cons, the Switch’s adaptability is appealing to gamers.

But, of course, consoles are nothing without games. 2023 was a big year for Nintendo Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears It received near-perfect reviews and became an almost instant bestseller.

But another reason it’s been so talked about over the past year has been the leaks and buzz around a newer handset: the Nintendo Switch 2.

As well as news about the Switch 2 reportedly using DLSS and ray tracing, there’s also been talk about its hardware, potential performance, and release date throughout the year, and when Nintendo finally announces its long-awaited gadget. It has helped build up the hype for.

The iPhone 15 has secured the top spot as the most searched gadget by Yahoo Singapore readers in Singapore in 2023.

The iPhone 15 caused a stir, both good and bad. First, of course, this was the first iPhone to say goodbye to Lightning and hello to USB-C.

Some consumers think other upgrades in the latest model aren’t all that amazing, pointing out that many of the new features are a bit lackluster considering the high price tag compared to competitors. did.

But many were also drawn to one of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max’s most notable features: the brand new A17 Pro chip, which claims to be the fastest smartphone chip this year.

The new chip also features DLSS and ray tracing capabilities, increasing future gaming possibilities. Resident Evil 4 Remake, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and more will soon be playable on the tiny device.
