Manor New Tech vs. Caldwell Hornets

Manor New Tech couldn’t get out of a tough situation on Thursday, as the team suffered its 13th straight loss. They suffered a 19-0 loss at the hands of the Caldwell Hornets. The result was a jarring reminder for Manor New Tech of the 15-0 loss they suffered in their previous matchup in April 2023.

Caitlin Faust and Avery Smith were key pieces for Caldwell, no matter where they played. Pitching, Faust pitched an inning without giving up an earned run or a hit (he also did not allow a walk). Smith, on the other hand, pitched two innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs. At the bat, Faust had 2 hits for 2 at bats, scoring 3 runs and stealing a base, while Smith had 3 hits for 4 at bats, scoring 3 runs and stealing a base. Smith has been in the spotlight lately, recording at least one stolen base in each of his past seven appearances.

In other batting news, Caldwell had a big performance against Camryn Hill, going 2-for-2 with a home run, five RBIs, and a triple. Kelly Urbanowski was also a key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while reaching base in all three at-bats.

Manor New Tech’s loss dropped their record to 2 wins and 20 losses. It was Caldwell’s eighth straight win, and his record this year is 12-8.

Manor New Tech heads on the road to face La Grange on Monday at 6 p.m. As for Caldwell, he is scheduled to play Taylor in front of his home fans on Monday at 7 p.m. Caldwell hopes to continue his five-game winning streak at home.
