Apple has purchased a new domain called iWork.ai, suggesting it could highlight the AI capabilities of its application suite. The tech giant owns hundreds of domains, but it calls its suite of work tools that compete with Microsoft Office iWork.
The productivity suite includes Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, which allow users to create word processing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. In 2009, Apple introduced iWork ’09 alongside his iWork.com, but this site has been inactive for some time.
Although iWork.ai is currently inactive, BuyAIdomains.com has discovered that Apple has purchased the URL.

A quick search on WHOIS by ReadWrite confirmed that Apple Inc. (Cupertino) is the new owner of the domain.

The move could signal that Apple plans to compete with Microsoft’s new AI-powered Office assistant, which has led the way in integrating AI and business. For example, Copilot uses AI to provide real-time summaries and generate important points, names, and dates during calls and within chat messages.
Purchasing an .ai domain can be considered a strategic move to strengthen your image. Microsoft’s acquisition of domains such as Video.ai and Translate.ai demonstrates the growing recognition of .Ai domains as important digital assets.
However, Apple will also purchase misspelled domains to prevent others from acquiring them. For example, “Zpple.com” redirects to apple.com. Apple, which registered apple.com in 1987, his 64th oldest domain name in existence, also acquired seemingly unrelated domains. These include me.com, carbon.com, and even texture.com.
Apple to unveil new AI technology at WWDC
The company has reportedly been experimenting with its Ajax large-scale language model since early 2023, integrating auto-completion and auto-summarization features into key applications and productivity tools such as Pages and Keynote. Apple announced at his Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June that he is expected to broadly adopt AI, especially within operating systems such as iOS.
Apple is reportedly developing its own AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT, although few details have been revealed.
