Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Announces New Cybersecurity Talent Development Program

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO) announced the Cleared For Success (CFS) program to help STEM students pursue careers in cybersecurity civil service and national defense.

Sponsored by the California Cybersecurity Institute (CCI), Cal Poly SLO’s CFS program hopes to strengthen its “Learn by Doing” motto through support in the field of cybersecurity.

Students in the Noyce School and the College of Applied Computing in Engineering (CENG) will learn basic security concepts and will have the opportunity to network with experts in the field.

Security clearances and certifications help students obtain the qualifications they need to succeed in the industry. The CFS program hopes to fill the gap for graduates who are hesitant to join the field.

A rapidly growing industry demands more professionals, and companies will benefit from having students fulfill their roles with the support of the CFS program.

“This partnership is a unique opportunity for our university and a watershed moment for experiential learning,” said Cal Poly President Jeffrey D. Armstrong. β€œThe cutting-edge work our students undertake has the potential to redefine the landscape and attract new investments that accelerate the pace of innovation at the state and national level.”
